Need a Hensley Stinger with a 4 inch drop

I presently have a Hensley hitch with a 2 inch drop on the stinger, and I really need on with a 4 inch drop. Does anyone have a recommendation as to where to go to find one at a cheaper price than going to Hensley and buying one. The perfect scenario would be to find a person who has a 4 inch drop and really needs a 2 inch. Then we could just switch them out. Any suggetions would be appreciated.

Hensley will trade your 2 inch for a 4 inch if they have one available. IIRC, you only pay shipping.

I believe that Hensley will swap that out for at no charge other than shipping. You will also need to ship yours to them. Each way shipping was about $50 when I last did this several years ago. I also did another no-cost swap out at their factory in Michigan.

You guys have it wrong. Only if you have a lifetime warranty will Hensley swap out the hitch bar for you. Used hitches with no warrantees it is $200 plus shipping.

No, I had it right. I am the original owner of my Hensley, and they have swapped it twice, so far.

You are correct in that they will swap it out... but only if you have a lifetime warranty with them.

I am the third owner of my Hensley Hitch. Warranty is not transferable. I have it right in that they will charge me $200 plus shipping for a new hitch bar.

You and overlander63 are assuming the original poster has a warranty. He may not and this may be why he posted here.

Tinmaah,
You are correct. I am not the original owner, and Hensley wants 200 plus shipping. For 500 I can buy the warranty that would cover the entire hitch, and then the exchange would be free, but I am not sure how likely it would be that anything else would go wrong. I guess I am really hoping that there is someone out there that has a 4 inch and really needs a 2 inch and we could swap.

Just another thought here.....I know for a fact there are competent welders in Texas, so maybe you can find one here that will rebuild the stinger for the drop you want and not charge an arm and a leg?

We just bought a Hensley, and I talked to the sales person several times, and he said some dealers will swap for free, if they have the needed size in stock. Last year our Airstream dealer in Grand Rapids, Michigan swapped a 4 for a 2 at no charge, and said they swap all of the time.

$200? Maybe I should start making Arrow hitch bars for $100...

Sean,

Don't you make an adjustable drawbar that fits a Hensley hitch?

I have made a few in the past but it isn't economical to make them one at a time.

If I could set up and make 10+ of them at one time I could do them for about $225.
