Least-Hassle Weight-Distributing Hitch?
I may need to get a weight-distributing hitch. Currently towing with a standard hitch with a friction sway-bar attached.
Since the tongue weight is not extreme, less than 700 pounds, I would think most hitches can handle that burden. So I might have a lot of options.
With that in mind, I'm interested to hear opinions on which weight-distributing hitches are easy to use ... and which ones are the most complicated to hitch and unhitch.
Don't know anything about weight-distributing hitches, so ... fire away with some wisdom!

I'm partial to my BlueOx. Hooks up like a standard hitch, then jack the trailer up a bit to take weight off TV, attach sway bars which just slide in. Apply tension using included wrench (or I prefer to purpose-bought 24" breaker bar with socket) - it's a 1/2 rotation of the locking head on each side.

I would use the Andersen considering your trailer, but you don't mention your tow vehicle.
Like above, I also use the BO; but that because of TV and TT and pay load.

Popcorn with loads of real melted butter,
Put "Weight distribution" in the Airforums search block above.

Need to distinguish:
1) WD solely; or,
2) WD with integrated antisway

Hi
There are a number of hitches that work on the "crank up the jack, attach the bars" principle. Some are slightly simpler than others. To the extent they are it may be not needing to grab a tool or maybe one more motion to the process. I'd call them all "simple" once you have done it a couple of times. The more exotic hitches are a bit more critical of alignment when hooking up. How much more of an issue that is ..... we have several hundred threads and many thousands of posts debating that exact question.
All that said, the Equal-i-Zer probably is the "most simple". I would not try and tell anybody that alone is a sufficient reason to pick it over all the rest.

The multitude of opinions on this topic will prevent a consensus ~ that said ~~ I prefer the Equal-i-zer is simple and effective. I pull a 2017 Flying Cloud 27FB with a 2016 F150 with a 3.5 eccoboost and it works perfectly for me.
I figured I would throw trucks into the discussion -

I'm not qualified to say which hitch is the best, but I use an Equal-i-zer with our 25' Flying Cloud Twin and F150. For reference, the gross weight of the trailer is 7300# and the hitch weight is 835# per factory specs, for whatever that's worth. This combination trailers beautifully and while other hitches may be "better" depending on the application, I can't imagine how any WD hitch could offer less hassle or be easier to use.

X5 for Equalizer.
Simple and it works. Easy to adjust. Provides WD and anti-sway. Driver and can backup the rig without having to get out and detach anything.
25k miles towing. Have used with 1/2 ton SUV + 25' AS and 3/4 ton truck + 30' AS. Works for me, and I like simple.

I think my Blue Ox is great and very easy to use and maintain. Plus not lots of noise. I think lots of the pain of any is handling the stinger and hitch head. To make that easy I had a buddy weld a piece of 2" receiver tube under the a frame. On and off the truck to the A frame is really easy and convenient.

Equalizer. 27 FB towed by a 2017 F150. Simple. Have about 15k on this combo.
