Easy to deal with the bouncing...slow down. Its the same with the frost heaves on the alcan highway to Alaska, now that road gives new meaning to the concept of bounce. We have 2 drawers in the 2005 31footer that we just take out and put on the floor when we know we're going through a rough road.
Our terrifying California experience was getting caught on the LA freeways coming down from Sacramento to visit our kids in Riverside county. We found ourselves in rush hour traffic on a friday night. It took almost 3 hours to make the traverse over to Riverside from I-5, towing a 31 foot trailer! Thankfully the marraige survived...and no one rear ended our precious airstream.
Went to a conference last year in Anaheim, took the BMW motorcycle mostly on the PCH, it was beautiful. But I hit I 5 at 6 PM in Los Angeles. It was nightmarish and guess what, it was on a Sunday. NorCal I5 was one of the prettiest roads around. Thank God for GPS. Seattle and Tacoma have some screwy sections of I 5 too. You can kind of get in a groove depending on which lane you are in. Funky.
I guess most of the Non-LA residents now know why most of us drive 4x4 SUV's and Trucks in LA, huh? The roads in LA and Orange Counties (State Highways) are worse than the worst Roads in South Africa where I'm from originally.I Drive at about 50mph when towing my new Safari Sport and its not too bad. Speeding up definitely makes it worse. The traffic on the 5 and the 405 is usually so bad at peak times though that you dont usually get to choose to drive any faster than that.
