is there a way to lower the hitch weight

is there a way to lower the hitch weight, because i'm trying to get an airstream to the netherlands but the average hitch weight in the netherlands is around 60-75KG
and what is the normal hitch weight of an airstream?
and can my land rover defender 122HP handle it??

Hitch weight rule of thumb is 10% of the weight of the coach. To much and it's a strain on both the hitch assembly and the coach. To little and it can become a VERY dangerious handling situation.

With a weight distributing hitch a VW golf would sit level with 600lb of tounge weight.

What model Defender? What model Airstream?

When towing wheel base is your friend. THe longer it is the less the trailer can push the tow vehicle around. I would not recomend towing anything bigger then a bambi with a D90. 110 or a Disco I would limit to 25ft max.

122hp....I asume it's a deisel. What is the torque rating?

If you read what the general consensus is here reguarding power your going to get a big negative on that low of HP from most people here and I would side with them. Your going to have almost no power to spare and will not be able to maintain speed on any sort of grade and become a rolling road hazard.
