How to tell the weight of load bars

When we bought our trailer from the PO he did not tell us the weight of the load bars. We think they are 1000#, but Terry told us 750# would be better for our trailer. There is a set up for sale in the classifieds, but they don't know the weight and neither of us know where to look on them if there is a marking of some sort. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks Gary that's very helpful, but my bars are round not flat. Does this measuring method still apply?

Our bars have the weight rateing stamped on the bottom.. used them a couple times before I noticed.. they are round, Reese, 600lbs.
