How does Jackson Center move trailers with PPP hitches?

How does the factory repair center move trailers that are equipped with Hensley or ProPride hitches? Do they have some sort of adapter?

Yes mine will be 2.5", Shawn is sending it to me next week.

So you stirred up our appetite for it, so tell us the rest of the story!

I had been emailing Chris Burch for MONTHS in advance of our trip. We were having some custom and warranty work done. A punch list of say 15 items. I remember emailing him about the ProPide hitch and telling him him it's a 2.5" receiver. He said they do ProPrides all the time and are all set. I guess he missed the 2.5" detail.

So the morning of the service, the tractor shows up and they can't connect it! I had to connect with my truck and bring it in the service bay for them. They called Sean and he FedEx'd them the part they needed to connect from their tractor.

So they absolutely have what you need!

The service guys were AMAZING!!! Great job and great fun to work with!

Camping at the terraport was pretty fun too if you're in to geeky things like that! 😃

Have fun!!

Best of all, they use John Deere's at the factory and at the service department! It don't get any better than a Deere and a Airstream.

We have been to JC a number of times over the past ten years with our Hensleys. They have a special fixture to move these trailers. Here are a few pictures that we took on our last visit to JC.

Screwdriver for the Hensley. On the ProPride they use a large ViceGrip C channel plier clamped to the sides of the top ProPride plate.

So when these use these "fixtures" I'm assuming they also crank up the sway bars a little to allow the head to be a bit tighter? I have tried to move my trailer with a PP hitch around with a forklift one day and it was a disaster. The PP head is loose because the sway bars are loose and everything has way to much play as far as I can see. What am I doing wrong?

I would crank the jacks up in towing position before picking it up .

Thanks that's sort of what I thought also. I will give it a try the next time I need to move it.

You also need to use the vise grips (PP) or the screwdriver (Hensley) to hold the head in place.

We have the PP and tow with an Exceursion. We had to use our tv to take to bay. We then wanted to disconnect and explore the area but they asked us to leave it hitched in case they had to move it around. So, we spent the day just walking around town. That night we stayed in port and next day repeated the hitched up process. This was several years ago. Perhaps the issue is resolved.

When we were at JC this past April, we saw them moving a PP-equipped Airstream with the tug. It appeared that they lock the head in place with two pair of vice grips. With our Hensley, they just stick a large screw driver in the slot on the head.
