Hitch lock?

Picking up '17 FC 25 FB Twin late this month. Have been enjoying this forum. I wonder which hitch lock is good and secure with reasonable price? Appreciate your input very much!

I spent a lot of time looking and researching and ultimately decided that I wanted a wheel lock instead. There were only a couple hitch locks that last more than a couple minutes when someone tries to break into them--and many thieves simply ignore the lock and tow the trailer using the safety chains. Just one lock allowed the safety chains to be locked up--but their Airstream version of that lock lacked that capability.

Sorry, I can't recommend one for that price. The two I tried pryed off too easily with a crowbar. If you can spend $300, I recommend this one.

I'm looking for a secure coupler lock as well, and I came across this unit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NUNFKS6?psc=1 Has anyone had any experience with AMPLOCK UBRP2516? Though not as robust looking as FCStreamer's Proven Industries lock, the AMPLOCK unit looks like it would provide good protection against most theft attempts.

I'm intrigued by Thiel's choice of a wheel lock instead of a coupler lock, because thieves often use the safety chains when stealing a trailer, bypassing the need to get at the coupler. What type of wheel lock do you use?

Get a cheep lock and good insurance. Not that many trailer stolen. Park your truck in front of it.

My insurance is less than the cost of the expensive lock.

I wasn't sure if you meant while attached to the Tow Vehicle (Yes) or while parked. (yes)
My neighborhood has a lot of boat trailers, and almost none have locks.

This is a bad place to ask for anything costing under $100
But, I'd consider one of the tongue locks, and then a chain from the tongue frame to something solid with a padlock.
(Like a couple of concrete blocks buried in your yard.) Just don't forget and drive away.

I have the proven industries lock. I can't always park my truck in front when out sight seeing.
Can't say it works but my A/S is always parked where I left it...:-)

I know you asked for a hitch lock, but consider this - someone determine to steal your trailer is going to be prepared. Many hitch locks can be cut quickly with the right equipment; so rather than put a lot of money on an expensive hitch lock; put a little money in a few places.

There's a company that makes hitch pin locks, pad locks, and cable locks keyed to your vehicle ignition key. Grab all 3 and run the cable lock through your wheels when parked. Put a padlock on the hitch to discourage the casual thief. Grind the threads off a spare ball and lock it in if you're real paranoid.

Lastly - in addition to proper insurance I went the SPOT Trace route. I get a notification everytime the trailer moves after being stationary for a time. Generally I'd assume you'll be relatively close to the camper, so you get an unexpected notice you can go track it down.

they work well, and like everyone else has said, the lock is only to slow people down, you need awesome insurance to back it up.

I have one also. It's hard to unlock sometimes and there's a YouTube video on how easy it is to defeat.

I researched till my Head hurt but finally decided to go with the mega hitch lock

I forgot to mention in my earlier post - while camping I also often use the x-chocks between my wheels. Those are lockable as well. Sure a few hard swings with a hammer would kick it out, but again, multiple separate steps requiring time and noise to remove.
