We recently purchased a 1987 25' sovereign
and a 2007 Chevy Suburban 4 WD 3/4 ton. Does anyone have a similar setup or suggestion for the best weight distributing hitch and aniti-sway device? I have been looking at the Reese dual cam and the Equalizer hitch. W/D hitches are totally new to me so I am unsure how to select one.
The TV has the factory tow package and hitch rated for 10,000 lbs with 1000 lbs max tounge weight for a weight distributing hitch. (The actual tow rating is 9400 lbs.)
Our Airstream has a GVWR of 6800 lbs. (I think)
The hitch receiver in the suburban is quite high (appx 22-23 inches from the ground to the top of the box).
I assume we will need a drop bar to lower the hitch ball, but how much?
Unfortunately the Airstream is at a relatives house four hours away and parked on uneven ground. I did not think to measure the height of the coupler when we bought it.
Thanks in advance,
