Hitch ball torque

Being new at this towing stuff I was reading the Reese setup instruction from their web site, which stated "torque the hitch ball to 450ftlbs. The dual cam head I have does not have clearence between the casting and nut for a socket. How do you get 450ftlbs torque on this nut?

My best guess would be an open end wrench and a long pipe or a 3/4 drive crows foot (do they make such a beast?).

Sure can't do it with the a large import crescent.

turn it sideways

apb, you could do what i did

turn your hitch 90 degrees in the reciever and use a 24" cresent wrench, i'm around 225lbs. at 24" from the nut, standing on it = 450 foot pounds!

you might rent a wrench as buying it for a one time use seems a waste. i was able to use one from my work.

buying wrench

Buy one from Sears, use it then return it for your money back when you are finished.
