Hitch ball receiver lock manufacturer
I recall reading on the forum about a highly rated heavy duty locking device to disable/block out the towing ball receiver on the trailer but cannot recall the brand: think the name may begin with the letter "A" . Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Not sure about the one you are asking about but this is the one I use and am very happy with it. It is a bit pricy, but it is as good a trailer tongue lock as I have seen.

The Proven Industries lock previously mentioned is fantastic. I actually have basically a brand new one that I am sell. Bought it after I had my ProPride hitch taken off for awhile and wanted to protect the trailer. I put my ProPride hitch back on so can't use it and it does not fit my daughters trailer as it is Airstream specific.

Thanks, the Proven lock looks good and solid. It is not the one I had read about before but does the same job.

Sorry for the post about the BOLT pin lock, but I thought you asked about a receiver lock not a coupler lock.

Have you checked out Coupler Vault Pro?
This is a different brand of coupler lock, but after watching several videos showing failed break-in attempts, I was instantly sold. It’s pretty easy to use.

You could also look at MegaHitch Lock Coupler Vault Pro which is quite good

While installing your hitch lock on the trailer, notice the two safety chains. Those can be used in lieu of the hitch ball to steal your trailer.

Removing the chains is a must for sure. In addition to the Proven Industries coupler lock, we are planning on also using a Denver boot. Bit of a belt and suspenders thing. If you are using the boot you also need a good set of wheel locks as well.

Secure the coupler AND the chains

A very good point. In addition to the Coupler Vault, I also wrap the chains around the top of the coupler and lock them together underneath with a strong padlock. That should be sufficient to deter most casual thieves.
Yes, a Denver Boot is even more secure, but it’s also heavy and bulky. I would think it would be necessary only for long term storage in an unsecured area.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I tracked down the name I was originally looking for "AMPLOCK". I had my new boat/trailer in mind and will go with a combo of the Coupler Vault and a denver boot type device. Should be enough to slow someone down while the security cams run.....As a side note, if anyone is using the Blink cameras, they are just releasing a beta amendment that enables the user to limit the field of vision that will trigger the camera which for me at least, is very useful for an out door camera prone to being triggered by off property motion.

We got a Megahitchlock Coupler Vault Pro, but I was unhappy with the way it seems to barely fit on the coupler - dangling way down in front.
To supplement it got a Brahma wheel lock: http://brahmalock.com/
It's very secure, can't be yanked off sideways with a chain like some other wheel locks, and it comes with what I call the "Pie Plate" to cover the lug nuts or lug bolts. Without that someone can just unbolt the wheel....

we use three locks
- a lock to prevent the latch from opening when driving and when parked to hold the 7 pin to prevent usage
- a wheel lock when parked
- a meg hitch ball lock
