hitch ball height

went and bought a receiver hitch and ball so I can pick up the trailer (M19) sunday or monday. Guesstimating the height of the ball with the trailer attached and bought a 5 inch rise hitch which unloaded puts the ball height at 21 inches, I'm thinking the tongue weight should drop it in the ballpark of 18 inches or so which is the level height of the trailer.

may have to go shorter to the 3.5 inch rise hitch

2012 Flying Cloud 19

2012 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab 4X4 stock height

sitting empty the receiver is at 14 inches high

the 5.5" Reece hitch with ball installed is approximately 21 inches high, installed upside down

I'm figuring the tongue weight will drop it 2-4 inches

OK I believe the new trailers have a hitch height of 18 1/2" so you need 2 1/2" drop in suspension from the 21". A 1500 should be close to that.

With the Hensley hitch attached to our 2013 25Fb International, the bottom of the receiver opening on the Hensley hitch is 12" from the ground. After the suspension and hitch modifications to the Dodge TV, the bottom of the Dodge receiver opening was about 14.25" so a 2" drop worked fine.

got to the trailer - the hitch I bought was way too high, luckily my buddy brought a hitch with 1 " or so drop and it worked fine. Towed it home with no problems
