I’m interested in a Reese WD hitch. I’m towing a stock ’64 Safari 22ft. After reading forum I’m looking at the “Reese High Performance Trunnion Weight Distributing Kit with optional dual cam sway control”. I prefer to not drill holes in AS frame. This setup is available in 600, 800, and 1,200 lb. tongue weight models.
What is the stock tongue weight of a ’64 Safari? I’d think it’s <600 lbs.
Can a WD hitch be too heavy duty and cause damage?
Does tow vehicle gross weight help determine which model to use?
Does Reese part #R66020, 600 lb Trunnion Bar WD Hitch kit sound like proper setup for ’64 Safari?
TVs are F-150 and Jeep GC. I know GC limitations, short WB, unibody, underpower, etc. It’s what I have to transport people for now. Roads are Alaska and California mountains and in between.
Yes, we have electricity in our igloos now and heaters for the dog sleds .
Anyone have new thoughts on which wd hitch or a used wd hitch setup for sale?
