hitch for 07 suburban and 25' sovereign??

We recently purchased a 1987 25' sovereign and a 2007 Chevy Suburban 4 WD 3/4 ton. Does anyone have a similar setup or suggestion for the best weight distributing hitch and aniti-sway device? I have been looking at the Reese dual cam and the Equalizer hitch. W/D hitches are totally new to me so I am unsure how to select one.

The TV has the factory tow package and hitch rated for 10,000 lbs with 1000 lbs max tounge weight for a weight distributing hitch. (The actual tow rating is 9400 lbs.)

Our Airstream has a GVWR of 6800 lbs. (I think)

The hitch receiver in the suburban is quite high (appx 22-23 inches from the ground to the top of the box).

I assume we will need a drop bar to lower the hitch ball, but how much?

Unfortunately the Airstream is at a relatives house four hours away and parked on uneven ground. I did not think to measure the height of the coupler when we bought it.

Thanks in advance,
IggyWalker

We pull an '05 25FB with an '05 Suburban 2500 Quadrasteer. We have have logged over 30,000 miles with this combo. At the beginning we decided to bite the bullet and go with the Hensley Arrow. It works as advertised. We have never had ANY sway whatsoever.

Your GVWR of 6800 lbs. is correct. It is the same on my '86 Sovereign 25'.

spring bars

Thanks for the link Tom- I'll have to read through that thread twice. (or more) I did not realize the spring bars should be sized down due to our stiffer suspension.

Hensley Arrow

Moosetags-
Are you using a factory hitch receiver on your suburban? I did not look at the previous body style of suburans so do not know if the hitch receiver height is different.

Does the Hensley arrow adjust vertically or do they make a drop bar? I could not tell from their website. I do like the way the Hensley stays on the trailer when unhitched. I'll do a forum search as well-
Thanks, IggyWalker

I replaced the OEM receiver on my '05 Suburban 2500 after I detected cracks in the welds. I replaced it with a Class IV receiver. The pre-07 Sub's receiver height is probably lower than the 07/08.

The Hensley uses a hitch bar with a drop. I use a 6". The new Subs would probably take at least an 8".
