Ah, the classic jump up and down on it, or hang from it with north of 200 pounds of human...classic engineering test method. Used way more often than admitted to...

Personally, I'd consider going to bigger diameter fasteners, but 6 of them instead of 4 should be fine...

Install time on ProPride....

Just finished a ProPride install on my 2006 25’ FB SE and it took a grand total of 3 hours ( over 2 days as a break was called for rain ;-). That was with me going as slowly and methodically as I could without falling asleep, checking torques, etc. So, I am at a loss how someone could spend 8 hours at it? As a side note, talked with Sean several times... very nice and very supportive. Install instructions rate at least a 9 out of 10.

Did not count prep time as I used the install as an excuse to clean up, rust remove, patch an odd hole or five, paint, etc. BTW, Rustoleum has a Black Stainless Steel spray paint that was a virtual match for the Airstream Black/grey thing going on so was thrilled with that!

Will attach a picture (if I can figure that out) that includes detail of raised tank tray....also,if I can solve the photo thing, you’ll see my new hitch storage cover is the NEW IKEA large grey shopping bag costing, I believe 1.99 ( these things are near bullet proof and make good log carriers as well )

That's an understatement. What an awesome hitch. I'm getting the hang of lining things up to hitch, and adjusting the WD to unhitch neatly. I've got about 1000 miles on it (hensley) now, and just love it.

It is an amazing product. The best money I ever spent on my Airstream.

We have over 5,000 mile on ours, and yep, a little practice and a modicum of mechanical skill, and its a no brainer. I plan to paint the stinger end and the head opening bright white to make it easier to see in the backup camera. A well-trained spotter, and a little get out and look will also do well.

Thumbs up

I use the cover all Season.....but removal in the Fall has forced a regular Maint schedule come Spring, by the third Season it was a 45min operation.

Look'n good & work'n good for 10years now.

Yeah. There's just no going back. Can no more shake the trailer tail into another lane by accident than one can lose ones shadow.

The longer the TT or the worse the TV, the more valuable it is.

I own one highly modified 31’ Airstream, and another identical stock 31’ Airstream, a common trait to both is that they are very prone to sway at about 60 MPH and up. That’s true whether I am in a long or a short wheelbase tow vehicle.

From https://www.propridehitch.com/faqs :

"Yes, both hitches operate through the exact same principle of pivot point projection. Jim Hensley's original design patents addressed the mechanism for this projection. He licensed those patents to a man named Colin Connel who started the company Hensley Mfg., Inc. Jim Hensley never sold anything to the company named after him. He only licensed his patents to them. Through the years Jim continued to make improvements to his original design but the company never licensed any of them. In 2007, ProPride licensed all of Jim Hensley's patents to improve his original design. The complete story is on The Jim Hensley Hitch Story page."

Understand the hitch up is not ideal if your on an incline? Please share incites on this. Many times we have to park where the front hitch is either up or down a little due to campgrounds or even where I now store my AS. Setting on the ball is not difficult, but getting the "stinger" into the receiver can be an issue, I was told this week?

Snarky answer: If you can get the stinger out, you can fit it back in.

Slightly better answer: You can use the WD jacks to angle the hitch to be parallel with the stinger in the tow vehicle. Make sure the stinger is lubed up, and the insertion is fairly straight forward. After a short learning curve, I've not had any problems hooking up on uneven surfaces.
