Hensley Hitch installation

Going to get my - new to me - 92 Excella in Oregon next week. Ordered a Hensley Arrow kit. First when it got here it almost took a forklift to unload - ok not really - but don't expect to just unload. Question is has anyone installed one of these and if so how long did it take you if you would have say a reasonable sense of mechanical aptitude. I am thinking to have someone come to storage and install for me. Thanks for any tips.

If I remember correctly it took less than two hours.

Read instructions.

Pack all tools.

Pack extra tools for relocating gas lines, etc.

Pack tape and tape measure and wire ties, etc., Bottle jack(s)

Pack extra chain for trailer safety chains and methods to join them properly.

Pack grease gun with grease.

Pack or buy spare bulbs and wiring tools.

What Channing said. I used a floor jack to lift mine into position. Easy to do...take your time.

All of the above, AND the folks at Hensley are very nice. Give them a call if you run up against a "stumper" along the way.

Thanks - I looked at boxes and then read the installation book. I found someone up there to install for me when I get up there. Figured safer that way since I have a thousand mile trip ahead and a little hilly from time to time.

The instructions are very thorough, read several times, lay everything out, get familiar with the nomenclature of all the components.
Thread the holes for the for the strut bar plates before mounting. They are self tapping shear bolts, best to use penetrating oil, cut the threads slowly backing out every once in awhile to clear out.

If you install it yourself you'll learn a lot about how it functions and will be able to trouble-shoot any future concerns....invaluable experience.

I remove the haha every Winter for storage, it's now a 30-40min install every Spring.
