I would PM Rich Lhur and ask him. He has one and he might be able to tell from the photos if all of the parts are there. I know the warranty is not transferable so they aren't considered to be worth as much re-sale as they are new. If all of the parts are there and nothing is wrong with it I would think that is a good price. However, with only one bid you can never tell what that bidder's max price is or what you would have to bid to win it. You might ask Rich for a reasonable value. He might be able to give you an idea. I know they make towing a breeze and can greatly improve stability if your tow vehicle has a short wheel base vs. length of trailer. That is why Rich bought his. His Armada didn't have enough wheel base to make the combination as stable as he wanted and the Hensley improved the stability and comfort of his towing experience.

That is an older Hensley though that makes little, if any, difference. Current serial numbers are in the mid 8,000+ range. That one is #03445. The hitch looks to be complete; however, chances are great that you will need a four to six inch drop rather than the straight shank that comes with that hitch. Most Denalis, Suburbans and 3/4 ton trucks with an 18 inch high receiver will use a six inch drop shank. A shank will cost in the $250 range + shipping and can be ordered from Hensley's website.

I purchased a Hensely. I can attest that it is the best money I've ever spent. Used Hensleys normally bring $1800 to $2200. Occaisionally, you can find one cheaper in the $1500 range. Once in a while the factory will sell a reconditioned one for $2500 with a warranty. A warranty can be purchased for $500 from the factory, if desired, on any Hensley. The current price on this Hensley is a STEAL. If it stays anywhere around there, I'll bid on and buy it and I already have one. I'll pick it up in case one of my friends want it.

hi devoman...

did you bid and buy?

final price of 1600$ is pretty good.

IF you are looking for info here on the haha try our thread...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f464...ide-26279.html

does look to be complete. you would likely need a 4 inch drop bar with the t-rex.

however i'm not so sure i'd use a haha on a t-rex.

there is a lot of torque/stress in the receiver box using a haha and the t-rex receiver might not be up to the task.

vw isn't even wild about using w/d bars with their receivers....

as to warranty issues. this is listed as a 10k model not 14k model as they are currently.

hensley WILL transfer the warrant on newer units for a fee (500$) but not usually on older units like this one.

it would likely need to be shipped (at your cost) to the factory for refurb to get a warranty....

don't really need the warranty these things are mostly steel and grit....

so to recap 1600$ plus 2-300$ shipping,
plus the proper shank (250$ + shipping)
and the price is approaching 2100$
IF the warranty could be added
you are now near the price for brand spanking new...

the auction would be a good deal for someone near idaho using a car 2 tow,
who could just pick it up and save shipping.
and use the supplied shank.

are you ready for that new superduty or is the toyota still in your sites?

cheers

Check with Hensley before you buy. The purchase of a warrantee is not guaranteed. If it is before a certain serial number(as in too old) they will not sell you, as the second buyer, a warrantee.

What gets me is to look at the parts, I just can't see the cost to manufacturer this thing is more than $500 why do they need to have as much profit as they must have.

If they sold new for $1500 they would control this vertical.

That's a good price. We sell serial numbers 2000-4000 for $1995, which inlcudes a 3 year warranty. Whenever you guys see one like this and want to find out how many owners it's had, give us a call with SN.

The reconditioned hitches will go back on sale this spring sometime. We round them up in batches so our factory guys can set up a sort of assembly line to recondition them. They tear them down completely, replace bushings, etc. The things just don't wear out, though, so don't hesitate to grab a used one if you can get a good price.

As for purchasing a used one which I did recently, HA will not sell a warranty for hitches on serial #5000 or lower. Except for a hitch bar change or weight bar change there really is no need for the warranty - it is quite a hunk of iron.

What kind of and how much labor would be involved in taking off an existing hitch and installing a Hensley? (F250 Superduty)
Thanks,
Marshall

Marshall, it would be about a 2 hour job.

There are hitches on e-Bay for sale all the time. You can set up a "Favorite Search" for the term Hensley Hitch and e-Bay will send you an email anytime one is posted.
