Heavy-Duty Levelrite Hi-Power 3000 Barker Manf.

Replaced the fuse on my jack and it grunted slightly once. Is the switch the next likely culprit when the jack will not go up or down?

I would just bite the bullet and replace it. I've gone through a couple of the older Barker Superjacks and decided to switch it out for the Atwood.

Best to call Barker and get their recommendation but the switch is probably the culprit.

Hi, hard to tell what the cause of blowing the fuse is. I replaced my tongue jack fuse with a circuit breaker. This is not a cure-all, but keeps me from having to carry, and change fuses during an intermittent overload condition.

First thing I would check is to remove the head from the jack shaft and test the motor directly. If the motor works in both direction rewind the jack post in the fully retracted position and then back it down 1 1/2 turns. Reinstall the jack post.

If the jack post is not set correctly the limit switches will not cut off the current before the motor stalls against the jack and blows the fuse.

If the motor will not work when tested free of the jack post there is a problem in the motor.

Bargman vs Atwood

I have a 2015 Classic Airstream and it has the Bargman Super jack 3500 lb capacity jack on it. I bent the tube and decided to get a new jack from Aitstream they no longer sell the Bargman, they sent me a 3000 lb Atwood

do you think the Atwood is as good at the Bargman I called Bargman and can get my jack rebuilt sort of in a quandary New Atood or have the Bargman rebuilt.???

comments would be appreciated

Earl

Hi, I rebuilt my Bargman 3500 tongue jack and will keep it for a spare. I now have an Ultra Fab Phoenix 4000. My new jack has touch buttons, LED lights, and a memory up button. What the memory feature does, is raise the trailer to the set height. I set mine to about 1" above my hitch ball on my tow vehicle.

A new tube is about half the cost of a new jack and is very easy to replace. Why accept a lighter jack at twice the cost?

I took off the Jack and my local tech says we should replace the entire Jack and not just the motor. Advice?

That's what we did. The original Barker 3000 worked fine but seemed to strain lifting the trailer tongue and the back of the loaded truck to set the hitch's weight distribution bars. Reliability is important in our travels, the Barker 3000 felt just capable, so we put on a Barker 3500. It lifts the tongue and truck with ease.
