We have pulled our 30' Classic w / SO thousands of miles. We use an Equalizer hitch w / 1000 lb bars. We also use an Equalizer w / 600 lb bars to tow the 25' Excella. The Classic tongue weight is about 840 lb when empty. The Excella tongue weight is 820 lb. when full of water, LPG, and supplies. These hitches on my '10 F150 do a great job of stabilizing the trailer in traffic such as semi trucks when on 2-lane or divided highways. As you suspected, you probably have enough truck for the trailer weight, but I think you would be more safe with good sway control. As others have said, "My experience (or opinion) only".

Okay I read thru the Tow Guide for my year truck. 500lbs bare hitch, 1250lbs max WD hitch, and 12500lbs max conventional trailer weight. Considering the AS line the heaviest trailer hits 10000lbs so I'm good on the trailer weight range.

My thoughts:
1) My max tongue weight cannot exceed 1250lbs to include trailer tongue weight and cargo weight in the bed.
2) I would not need a WD hitch setup that exceeds a 12500lbs rating.
3) A trip to the CAT scales will determine the best spring bar weight rating to use. I know I need to leave some weight on the hitch. Say no more than 300 lbs after everything is setup and installed correctly.

Thoughts and suggestions.
