Factory tongue lift will not come out.

Am attempting to replace my factory electric jack on my 1975 29' Airstream but even with the hardware removed it will not come out. Does anyone have a solution?

Mine was well rusted in... I had to soak the joint w/ penetrating oil, and put some pressure on it (by trying to lift the trailer tongue off the jack stands w/ it). With a bit of tapping w/ a BFH, it popped loose. I replaced it with a 5000 lb Bulldog manual jack; this works really well.

You just need a bigger sledge hammer. If that dont work. Then try jacking,with a floor jack or bottle jack under the A frame,Block under the electric jack in question and then slowly letting down the floor jack till the electric pops loose. Be gentle now and dont loose the A frame off the floor jack. While you have the tongue weight on the electric jack ,rap it with the big sledge, it will come loose.

Wow, I just did this yesterday, all the above is correct. Mine was stuck on the bottom plate. A soaking with pb blaster, a jack under it with the 3 bolts out to put the tongue wait on it and it slowly wiggled up and out. I thought it was welded to the bottom plate for sure, but it was just stuck. Good luck.

Thanks for all of the input. Yesturday I attempted all of the above PBS blaster, BFsledgeH , lifting trailer with jack with bolts out and the only thing that got me was a bunch of pissed off wasps I am returning today with a torch, candle and wasp spray. I read somewhere that you can wick the wax in the joint with a torch and then using a hammer and it will ease out. I will first see if the PB blaster sitting over night worked well enough. Again Thanks to all. It makes these road blocks so much easier when you at least know you can chat with others that have been ther and done that.

Ok... Mission complete. With the PB blaster sitting over night and the help of a little heat and a big sledge I was able to "git er done". Once it punched through I ended up cutting the slave off of the old jack because there was no way it was going to make it through the top hole.

Talil lights and jack taken care of. Moving on to the next project, the floor.
