Matt have you spoken to BO about your requirements? They have a very knowledgeable and helpful customer service department.

Get a Diesel

I had a scary situation this summer going down a mountain pass in NM. Yes, I was going a bit fast, but not over the speed limit. I didn't see a sign for the downhill and/or grade warning. The descent caught me off guard and before I knew it I was going over the speed limit downhill. Trailer and truck started to sway. I had to tap hit the brake controller manually to stop the sway and had a tough time getting the truck under control. It scared the bejeebus out of me. Fortunately their was no traffic and wide shoulders. Upon my return to MD I traded in my Tundra and bought an F250 w/ Powerstroke Diesel. Some say overkill, but it tows like a dream now and the diesel braking downhill buys me some piece of mind. Expensive yes, but I think it will be worth it in the long haul for that piece of mind. Don't get me wrong the Tundra would pull like crazy on flat land, but the mountains are a totally different story. Now, all of that was with my 30 footer, not your 25'.

Congrats on your new trailer!
I have the BOSP as well and am pleased as punch with it. I use it to pull a Pendleton with over 900# tw. With a F250. I set up the hitch using the recommendations of BO (definitely call them) and followed their instructions for set up with 1500# bars. I mounted the ball and set the height at home and then mounted the rotary locks at the dealership in about 20 minutes. I started out with the recommended number of links free (5) but pulled over and added another link once I hit the expressway. I later on added another link and can't believe how much it tamed the handling and steering.
I will recommend that you get a 1" socket (6-pt, deep well) and breaker bar with an extension (1/2" - 3/4" drive) to keep your fingers away from the propane tank cover while locking and releasing the rotary locks. I had to grind and file on the locks because the casting hex nuts didn't fit completely into the socket. I am religious about lubing the hitch and also found that I needed to lube the area between the mounting plate on the trailer and the rotary portion of the lock with white grease to facilitate locking up and releasing.
After reading this forum, I am prepared to upgrade the tongue jack to a 4000# jack in the near future as lifting the trailer tongue and truck rear end does strain the OEM jack.
Hope you enjoy your new TT and hitch as much as we do!
Bob

Quick update on my BO experience while on my trip to Colorado. I started out engaging the 7th link from the free end of the chain and experienced sway several times at higher speeds 65 - 70 mph. Decided to call BO and soon was talking to Marty at BO. I sent him pics of set up and discussed the issue of my hitch ball being 2 1/2" higher than the top of the AS receiver. He advised me to go up to the 8th link and on an email later said that even going to the 9th or 10th link may help.

On my 2nd day of traveling I went to the 8th link and now I am using the 9th link, although I have not gone very fast with the 9th link yet. The sway with the 8th link was reduced and also the occasional porpoising was reduced too. Maybe with the 9th link it will get even better.

Marty has been a great help and is shipping me the 9 hole receiver with a return label for my 7 hole receiver. He feels like it is important to get my ball height down to the 0 - 1" above the AS hitch receiver height. So when I get home the new 9 hole receiver should already be there.

I think the BO is going to be great as soon as get everything set up perfectly and working with Marty has been a pleasure.

No, 65ish and below - no sway. We tend to stay around 65 but when passing and going downhill, etc we find ourselves over 65 and that is when the sway would start...sometimes not always, usually associated with wind or maybe during a turn in the road.
