The creaking/popping doesn't really bother me. It just means you actually have effective weight distribution and sway control.

I take my hitch apart twice a year to clean and regrease it as Bob described and no more noise.
Thanks for the tip Bob, it was nice meeting you.

Do you happen to know if you are using the 10,000/1,000 lb. version?

The creaking is driving me crazy! I have greased it once, maybe I need to do a better job.
I guess I will give it a good clean and lube before the next trip in a couple of weeks...

I just took my hitch head apart and cleaned and re-greased. Also added the equal-i-zer Teflon pads for the bars. From experience the hitch will be totally silent yet maintaining effectiveness.

Can't decide between the Equal-l-zer and the Blue Ox. Leaning towards the Equal. Have not heard about the Teflon pads which sounds like a good idea.

Please go with the Equal-I-zer. You'll be glad you did. The Teflon pads are the Sway Bracket Jackets.

Lubriplate works very well.
Or use a spray can of it. Keeps the hands clean.

We are happy with our new Blue Ox. Second one we have owned, and the new one has no adjustments needed plus sealed head; grease zerts easy to get to; we had a Reese also, but this one works great. Pulls great, easy set up, and no creaking what so ever with new one, nor with the old one. I know there are folks on the forum that have strong opinions on hitches, but that is our experience...3 AS's down the road...

Per the OP, "Please don't post on this thread to...compare with other brand hitches...."
So. The sway bracket jackets (teflon pads) combined with Bob's maintenance regimen keep the creaking and groaning pretty much under control. As a result, we're happy with our hitch, though I freely admit we haven't tried any other brands yet. Given things are going fine for us, we probably won't change until or unless we get a new trailer, or this particular hitch wears out, or it does something that irretrievably makes me wish I had something else.

Thanks for the input. I forgot about lubriplate which is good stuff. Used it by the case when hauling cars.

Not rude, but to the point.

Please don't post on this thread to bash this hitch, compare with other brand hitches, or the mine is better and safer than your's type comments.
I have owned my trailer, which came with this hitch, for eight years. I have made a few modifications of my own to prevent frame bracket slippage. My trailer has been towed in 13 Western States and 3 Canadian Province's. I have towed in heat well over 100 degrees, as low as zero degrees, in high winds, rain, snow, and on ice. This hitch has worked well for me.
" In the eight years that I have owned my trailer, it has only swayed violently out of control once; This was while it was parked in my driveway during a 5.0 Earth quake".

Hi, Andy; This is an Equal-I-zer brand hitch thread. We all know that you promote and sell Reese brand hitches, So maybe you could start your own REESE BRAND HITCH thread and stop butting into all of the other hitch threads. This is one of the reasons that so many hitch threads have been closed.

Because Andy keeps “butting into all the other hitch threads”...? ReallY? Actually, I have found Andy to have been very helpful on many occasions and on many threads with good suggestions and advice...

Hey- can't we all just "get along"?? not sure what the issue here is... The forum is a great place for us all to share information....if you want to post a "private" email to a member, there is a place for that also...I enjoy reading other folks opinions and them sharing advise...I don't work for Blue-Ox, Reese, nor do I have a "horse" in this race...just trying to add my experience, which I thought this was all about?? this is not about healthcare (yet) for gosh sakes...please appreciate that some of us are only trying to share information...sorry if it happens to be on a particular thread! By the way, Andy has given some great advise and has helped several of us out...fyi..

Gotta say I agree with Robert. I got on this thread so I could find out some tips for my Eqal-I-zer. I really don't care about your other hitches. If I wanted to find out about them I would look them up.
