Electric jack
I just bought a 1987 29' Sovereign and I need to replace the jack on the front of the trailer. There is an electric jack there that does not work. Can anybody recommend a model? I like the idea of an electric one, but do I really need it to be electric? Any help would be very appreciated.

MATT>>First before U junk the jack, Check for a bad breaker.Check for power at the motor.Broken wires have been know to happen. I think some of the power jacks are repairable. The PO of our 77 Overlander Junked the jack and I believe there was nothing wrong with it. In searching the breaker panel for another reason I found that the jack circuit was dead. I replaced the breaker in case I am able to afford a new electric jack. We are getting along without the Electric Jack for now. If I have a health problem where I'm not able to crank it I will replace it.Sorry I cant tell ya what jack is best.

You can loosen the top of the jack (this part is about 6"x2.5"x 3"high) and take it off. Leave the wires attached. Next you can manually crank the jack up or down. I had to do this for a few months on my 87 until I replaced the worm gear. That was about 10 years ago and things have worked fine since then.

What type of handle/crank is needed to manually turn an electric jack with the power head removed?

Check the tongue weight if it around 500 lbs a manual jack is feasable. I'm not sure about heavier.
