Oh! & for Minnie's Mate - thanks for the reference to Centramatic. Just watched the video in your link & it sure makes sense.

We don't seem to have any problem that I have noticed with out 30'classic /2500HD combo using Hensley with 1000# bars - I asked Hensley about using lighter ones but they said I should stick with 1000#.

I just added a set of Centramatics - not to correct any particular problem but just because I was impressed with the theory & the demo, and felt they could only help.

As for hinge pins, we bought our trailer used, and I noticed that at the top of the hinge pins, someone has taken a centre punch and popped them around the circumference at 90 degree intervals. I don't imagine they came that way from AS, and the only thing I could think was that it was an effort to stop the pins from moving.

They don't move.

Brian.

Keep your eyes on those hinge pins.

Historically, once the pins have been center punched, in time, they will loosen again.

Best way to stop the issue, is insert a small pin, thru the hinge and pin.

Out of some 300 sets of Centramatics, not a single person expressed anything but praise, to us.

Ours had the center punch marks when we picked it up new, dealer said it was delivered that way....worked for awhile.

Fixed it when I re-finished the hinges.

Bob.

Thanks for the voice of experience.

Unfortunately, all to many owners have the same problem, but won't install the pin.

Andy - per your advice I will keep a close eye on the centre-punched pins and follow your suggestion if they show signs of moving.

Is the type of pin that you suggest what is also called a roll pin? ie it is formed by rolling a piece of metal into a round shape so that it has some springiness and holds tight in the drilled hole?

I guess you'd need to drill straight across the hinge / pin / and out the other side so you could also drive the pin out if need be?

What about instead, using some of the loctite product intended for holding bearing races securely in place top prevent the race from turning?

Might be an easier solution?

Brian - looking forward to our first long trip with the Centramatics, starting out next week!

The pin indeed is a roll pin.

I don't think Loctite will work, but it's easy enough to give it a shot.

Time will tell.

Please make a post, down the road, as to the results.

You are more than welcome. I plan on adding them to our Airstream with the next bearing packing later in the spring.
