Coupler Question

Does anyone know anything about this type of coupler? I am in the process of buying parts and steel for a new a-frame and would just like to get some feedback on this item. Would you recommend it? It looks like the collar would hold better in an emergency situation.

Possibly better than you need. Depends upon what you're towing.

I rented three equipment trailers equipped with a similar hitch. Worked fine. Seems like they are bullet proof and they seemed to be painless to hook up. Someone out there has got to have more than a few hundred miles experiance with these

In my opinion

Yes. Yes it will.

Having used similar couplers before, I agree that it is a superior coupler to what most travel trailers have. But, it requires more maintenance, in the order of periodic greasing, to keep it carefree. Even then it's release function can get balky.

Keep in mind that, with weight distribution bars installed, the coupler popping off the ball is extremely rare ... if not a non-existent situation.

Definitely go for that style of coupler if you tow without weight distribution.

Sorry I didn't get back to this right away.
Thank you all for the info.
Tom,
I have decided to go with a more standard coupler based on your info and some advice from dealers. The only problem now is I can't seem to find the brand that I finally decided on. A call to the manufacturer this afternoon will hopefully give me some good results by Monday.
Thanks again.
