Looking for thoughts on the California Immobilizer. I'm aware that nothing is fool-proof but I like the design and use of the CI. Two things I am wondering:
1) is there a metal piece between the moon shaped area and the lock that would deter someone from prying between the the two and attempting to break or bend the lock out of place?
2) anyone modify the flat plate area to cut slots in it to hold the safety chains near the hooks to minimize an attempt to use the chains to drag the trailer away?
Megahitch Lock
1. Made in the USA
2. Gives substantial Military discount

I paid under $100 for my Megahitch. Apparently they have upgraded the lock and jacked the price sky high.

If they were closer in price, I would be looking at the MegaHitch harder. I like the design but they kind of priced themselves out of it.
I was also looking at the Proven Industries 2516-AS but at $300 and not being able to secure the chains like their other models, they also priced themselves out of it.

Understand. I did not know they had raised their prices so high. Makes the so called California lock more attractive.

Going to give a California Immobilizer a try. Found a forum member that had swapped weight distribution rigs and couldn't use his CI anymore. Purchased it from him and will see how it works for me. I may modify it with slots to accept the tow chain links near the hooks so they can be locked at the same time.
