Blue ox hitch head locking pin missing

Just got through towing all day, went to unhook AS and one of the spring bars was not locked in the head. The locking pin assembly that you normally pull up to release the spring bar was gone. Anyone know if I can replace this small part or will it mean the head has to be replaced? I’m about 3 hours from home, think it’ll be ok to tow it like it is? It came out sometime today during the tow, so think it may be ok till I get it home?

Call Blue Ox. They can send you a new one. It is held in by a small piece of flat spring steel. I got tired of mine working free and wraped a piece of electricians tape around the tube and spring. No more problems.

Just an update, called them and they are sending me a couple of locks. I noticed the hole where the pin was was elongated and called them back. They said to try it and see if lock pin would stay in. If not they’d have to replace the head. I think it will come out again but will try.

Update. Received two sets of replacement lock pins and installed one in the missing side. Pretty simple, now to see if it’ll stay in place. BO did good.

Recommend you wrap some electrical tape around the spring plate area to keep the pins from popping out. That has stopped mine from self ejecting.
