AirSafe Hitch and Rock Tamers

Has anyone used Rock Tamers with their AirSafe Hitch? The one I ordered did not have sufficient room to install the Rock Tamer bracket, although the Equalizer draw bar did.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Rick

Not sure if my reply with photo worked. Ill try when I get home. What you do is remove the mud flap holder from the yoke and bolt it to
the Airsafe hitch

It all depends on how the receiver and hitch come together and how much room is left. I have both (rock tamers & airsafe) and mine worked as is, no modifing needed.
BradS has a nice solution if a mod is required.

Hi again. Sorry the text didnt come through. I purchased a couple of 5/8" bolts and nuts and mounted the Mud flap holder right to the Airsafe.

AirSafe Hitch and Rock Tamers

Thanks for the quick reply. Did you drill a hole in the AirSafe bracket, or was there one already there?

Hi Rick The hole was there, no modifications and I love the setup. I pull a 22' CCD with a one ton Dodge and the trailer rides very smooth.

AirSafe Hitch and Rock Tamers

Thanks, Brad. Great pictures. Now that I looked at the Class IV hitches, I see a hole where you mounted yours. The Class V hitch does not have a hole there.
We tow a EB 25 foot A/S so we opted for the Class V. But, they do have a Class V with a longer insert, (shank). It is two inches longer so I hope this does not present another problem

I did the same as Brad when I had an AirSafe. Worked great. I now have a ProPride and installed flaps on the truck.

Air Safe Hitch

I have known about these for a couple years, but recently I had an incident which resulted in some separation of the frame and body of my 31' Classic. I think it happened crossing an intersection where there was quite a drop on the descending side of the intersection. Now I have an appointment with the factory for repairs.

I don't know if this hitch box would have prevented it or not.

Comments?

Newer trailers are weaker and don't have steel hold down plates in the front and rear. They also have fewer rivets.

Does a airsafe work with the equalizer hitch. How do they bolt together. I have equalizer now.

The AirSafe can be purchased with a ball mount adapter or a weight distribution (equalizer) adapter. I just bought mine with the ball mount to start. Will decide if I need the wd later. The adapters are only about $100...so not a big deal.

Really like the flaps and the AirSafe hitch.

Just did the Equalizer/ Airsafe set up . You have to get the Airsafe WD bracket and then attach the Equalizer head to it. My Rock Tamers won't fit on it but the bolt on idea should work fine.

If you get the longer shank from Airsafe, there is enough space to accomodate the Rock Tamers.

I've had my AirSafe for four years and nearly 100K miles. It's easier to hook up,
The trailer rides better. My setup is with the Reese Dual Cam, but Equalizer
concept is the same.
Plus it weighs a lot less.
