Adjusting Friction Sway Bar

I have a Curt Friction Anti Sway Bar I am trying to adjust. The instructions just say to "try it" on the factory setting for the lower tension bolt, and adjust in quarter turns. How do you 'test' it on the road? I wasn't having any sway issues, so how can I tell how tight to make it? I'm assuming that until it's needed, I won't even feel it back there, so I have no idea if it's tight enough or not.

It's on a FC 23 FB BTW.

Install it and then turn the handle as tight as you can get it with one hand. Should be about right.

But what about the bottom bolt?

I put a Curt on mine....That is basically how I set mine up. If I remember correctly, the bottom bolt is to tighten it up after the friction pad gets some wear on it.

If you feel you do not have enough sway control then Tighten the bolt a quarter turn and see how that works.

When I used those, I found the more I tightened it, the better it worked, until the point that I could actually feel that it was there when driving. Then I would loosen it 1/4 turn.

I have a Reese double sway control and I tighten both sides as tight as I can get it and back off 1/4 turn. It creaks and groans when I'm making slow parking lot turns but feel great when towing.
