Adjustable hitch by Masterlock

I purchased an adjustable tow hitch that can raise or drop about six inches in either direction. It can be adjusted while hooked up to the tug by using a standated ratchet, no need to unhook , adjust, hook up...etc.

While it is adjustable via a spring I'm questioning how sturdy it is. It's rated to 5000lbs and a tongue weight of 500 lbs.

Anyone seen these?

I found this at the web site;

It should work fine for a drop on and go type setup, but it has no weight distribution or anti sway capabilities.

I had that hitch - it folded like a beer can in a rear end tap from a Mitsubishi PofS that hit me at a stop sign. Caved the hood and cracked the intake of the PofS and the guy took off for about 3 miles until the intake debris ate the engine up.

In short - I would not trust it to its max load - granted an accident was not in its design engineering load but it was folded in ways I thought were impossible. I do have 4 trailers all with different drops - I wanted an adjustable hitch for the yard hauls for moving the trailers around. It worked great for that.
