25' FC hitch height?

Currently in search of a 25' FC and I want to be ready to go get it....so

I need to know the hitch height of the FC hitch.

I have a '17 Ford F-250 and I need to buy a drop hitch and a 2 5/16" ball (correct?).

Just need to know the measurement from the ground to the lower part of the FC hitch.

Thanks.

Mike

It should be 17.75 inches.

Here is my experience on hitch ball height: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...ml#post1950252

Its not a F-250, but my hitch pin starts at 21" which is very close to the height of your F-250. Read my story about the 17-3/4" specification in the above link, but my unloaded ball is now at 22". See pictures of hitch in link.

I rent F250 SD, I bought this

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If the 16" is to far out, you can always get a shorter one like a 12 or 14". I had to extend my chain to hook to the TV. But the longer shank gives you move clearance it turn.

My 25' FC, perfectly level, is 20-1/2" from the ground to the top of the ball. That's not loaded with water, etc. for camping. So if you get a hitch that'll afford you this measurement as sort of a mid-setting, you'll be able to fine-tune the hitch height for your trailer in whatever configuration you wish.

Yes, you'll need a 2-5/16" ball with a 1-1/4" shank.

I also use an F250. Ball height is about 19.5, with an Equalizer setup. The trailer is exactly level which is the important issue, not ball height

And the nut on that ball will require 450 ft.lb. of torque. (dry)
Which is a hell of a lot of 'grunt' for anyone with only a torque wrench that goes to 250 ft. lb. However.............
It is possible to get it pretty well that tight.

Since only 10% of the torque is used to actually tighten the bolt, the rest is lost in friction. 50% in the threads, 40% at the nut face. So.......
(Source: Premier Fastener Corp. Cleveland.)

Using C-5 Colloidal Copper, or 'Nevr Seize', or similar 'extreme pressure' lube; you coat the face of the nut, and the threads generously with the 'goop'.
This means that you reduce the torque by about 40% from the dry spec. (450)
This will give you about 270 ft. lbs. of torque.
Using your 250 wrench at max setting, tighten the nut in a smooth even stroke.
This will give you almost the bolt tension desired by spec.
And this is as close to perfect as 'damn is to swearing'.

If you desire to have it perfect, Then use a 'Johnson Bar' to tighten it about 1/4 of a flat.
But really! Do you need it?
The bolt tension achieved is way better than what some 'grease monkey' using an impact gun will get. And the chance of failure is virtually nil.

If you buy the trailer from a dealer they will guide you in the right direction as far as hitch height and what to buy.
If you buy it from a dealer they will set it all up for you when you pick up the trailer.
Education is good.
Not all dealers set up the hitch correctly.

Close to final setup on my new F250 SD. Once I've got the required 1000 mile on the truck, it's a warranty thing, I'm going to finish hitch adjustments.

Well the bottom of the hitch hole is exactly 17 1/2" from the ground (F250 2wd) so it looks like a straight out hitch.

Thank you.

And as for having the dealer do it.....hey we really don't know if we buy used or new yet......we're hoping used.
