2" Receiver at rear of Airstream?

Not quite sure where to post this question, but this seems like the most applicable sub-forum.

Does anyone have any recommendations/experience in mounting a 2" receiver at the back of a 19-25' Airstream? I would like to be able to tote a few bikes on my Thule rack, or a Vespa on a Tilt-A-Rack. The Maximum "tongue" weight on the receiver would be ~350lbs.

The conventional wisdom it don't do it, some have, but the damage that it can cause will be hidden for a number of years before it shows up in some cases.

I don't think its a good idea either, the frame is not made to support that kind of weight

... my opinion is that, if you have a tow vehicle & a trailer behind it and you STILL want to cart stuff that won't fit in either of those, then ... you're not really leaving home.

I thought there might be some stress issues, but all your posts have convinced me to NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

I could always throw the bikes in the bed of the truck, however, the scooter needs to remain upright. Guess I need to travel without a shell (not desireable due to security), find a shell with suitable clearance, or perhaps explore the idea of a hitch receiver mounted at the front of the truck.
