1968 Land Yacht hitch ball size

I just bought a 68 land yacht, my first airstream. Can anyone tell me what size the hitch ball is? I need to tow it home next week.
Thanks

Should be a 2" ball.

Welcome to Airstreaming.

1974 and older Airstreams, have many axle failures because of the composition of the rubber rods.

The rubber rods will also fail, even on newer trailers, if the trailer was parked for a long time without removing some of the weight off the axles.

The following article will teach you how to check them out yourself.

Dura Torque Axle

Towing an Airstream or Argosy with bad axles, causes many different damages to the trailer and it's components.

If you find that the axles are bad, reduce the towing speed on the way home. That will help minimize some damages.

Ball Size

Unless it changed between 68 and 71 - I believe your ball is 2 5/16ths - that's what ours uses.

My ’67 is a 2” ball, my ’83 is a 2 5/16” ball. Given how alike ’67s and ’68s are, I suspect that Steve is correct. My guess is a 2” ball.

Well, you learn something every day - even my Coleman used a 2 5/16th
