Talking Wish to thank everybody

Hi everyone I just want to thank you all for helping me decide whak kind of engine and rear end for my truck to pull my 7000# trailer. This is what I got..a 2007 Ford F150 5.4 Triton with 4:10 rear end. It also has overdrive so I dont know what gear ratio it would be, if its in OD is that 4:10 or is it 4:10 out of overdrive. The dealer didnt have the manual, and they are sending me one so I hope it will tell. It also had a Teknosha but it looked like the front part was removed. Doesn't make sense however it would be nice if it had a brake control. Oh yeah of course has tow package. Thanks for all your help...Dave

Congrats on the new truck, Dave. What size AS are you towing with the truck?

my chevy has 3.73 rear end ratio. my tranny has OD and i tow in third gear, not overdrive. third gear is 1:1 gear. 1 revolution in the front will get you 1 revolution out the back to the rear end. in overdrive the transmition will generate more heat in the trans fluid. i have found that towing in overdrive, the trans down shifts to third gear more frequently, good luck, jeff
