Hi from AZ. . . installed Banks cold air box on my EcoFord, & doing all service prior to heading for Alaska in May. Tranny fluid, brake pads, fuel filter & serpentine belt on the list. AS is already serviced & ready to go. . .I like the look of that Mag-Hytec diff cover, investigating. . . Regards, Craig

I am from Minnesota but I am currently in the chihuahuca desert, in west Texas (trying to get home) so I did the battery, alternator, fuel lines, brake lines, carb, fuel pump, headlights, tail lights, turn signals, basically all the lights, filters and horn. I am sure I am forgetting something here...

It's a 1976 Ford f100 flatbed I've been working on.

I reallllllly want to go home. lol.

Multi-Switch Replacement: Hazard Lights, Turn Signals, Cruise Control, etc.

I haven't made the repair yet but I've ordered the part - a new multi-function switch for the steering column of our 1996 GMC Suburban. The vehicle is 19 years old and has over 170,000 miles. However, this will be the 3rd time the multi-function switch has failed. Arrrggghhh!

I'll post a few pictures when I perform the repair later this week. The video below was very helpful in determining that I am capable of performing the repair. The internet can be a wonderful thing!

What Was Your Latest DIY Tow Vehicle Repair or Modification?

Setting the adjustable aftermarket stinger for the Hensley Arrow.

New breakaway switch, new tongue jack, and chain + 7-way extensions.

R&R the truck starter, a new pair of batteries, and a half mile of batt cabling with quite a few minor and major connections.

Going thru the water heater at present. 1989 Suburban. Will probably leave propane capped for now.

Brake and bearings, next. And new brake controller. Thinking of adding separate charge line to TT batts.

Dodging heavy rains or intermittent showers. The south side of town is under water.

2003 Suburban 2500 4WD. Replaced the rear bump stops. The originals were completely gone and I was getting a nasty rear axle kick in the butt when riding over touch terrain. I will also be replacing the ones for the front axle too. They are called lower control arm knuckle bumpers.

Here's what those front bumpers look like old and new. It made a huge difference in the ride.

My last tow vehicle repair was to pull the 4.8 engine out of my wife's Tahoe and replace it with a "freshened" 5.3...

Then we pulled the trailer to NM and AZ on an extended trip.

They sit on top of the lower control arm and are mounted to the frame just behind the lower shock mount. Just age I guess. The other side had no rubber on it at all. I think they help absorb shock from the lower control arm movement. I'll get a picture posted so you can see them installed.
