I tow our 24' Trade Wind with a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 3.0L Diesel. We averaged 17.2 mpg on our last 14,000 mile coast to coast (and back) trip. I drive 60 mph +/- 5 mph.

55-60mph over hilly terrain
8.5 mpg avg.

I can climb any mountain...provided there is a gas station on the other side.

I like to revise my original post here.

I tow at different speeds but I mostly get about 11 mpg. Thats in the mountains and hills around where we live. I haven't towed on the flat to find out but i'm guessing it would be 12-14 mpg.

We we came down to Zion I towed about 70-75 mph Up and down the mountains. on the flat I hit 80 a few times but mostly drove about 75mph. When we got here I got 9.5 mpg on average. But we did some steep long climbs that I was doing 65+ mph up. so I was only getting about 3.5-5.5 mpg doing that.

Sometimes I sacrifice speed for time. With four kids sometimes going slower is just not worth the wining.

May you have at least one sunny day, and a soft chair to sit in..

On my last long trip of about 3000 miles, with my 1996 F250 PowerStroke 7.3 I averaged 14.7 mpg, hand calculated. This included some mountain, but mostly flat highways. I aim for 60 mph while on the Interstates.

Like the OP, I've recorded in the 17s and 18s, but it had to be under highly favorable conditions, like tail winds.

We never tow over the trailer tire rating of 65mph unless to pass, especially in hot Summer weather....
12-13mpg with Duramax Diesel towing a 30' Classic with Slide calculated on the Chevy "Happy Guage" on the D.I.C.
I need to hand calculate this one day.

In dog years, I'm dead!
