I already had a 2010 Ford F250 diesel that I used to tow an enclosed race car trailer.

With a Blue Ox hitch, I really enjoy the effortless towing. The truck always has excess power, even in the mountains, and is almost unaffected by crosswinds and semi trucks.

I usually have the cruise control on while on the interstate and the truck rarely downshifts for a hill. The newer ones have even more torque and horsepower.

If I were buying a new tow vehicle now, I would consider the F150 w/ Ecoboost but would probably stay with the F250 diesel. It's not the best choice economically but I enjoy the ease of the experience.

Chevy 2500 Diesel Silverado. Great for towing. Not a great "commuter car" [emoji3]

2012 Ram 3500 4x4 Crew Cab Short Bed Single Rear Wheel Cummins Turbo Diesel with Blue Ox hitch.

Crossing mountain passes is a regular experience for us when we hit the road so this set up works pretty well.

We towed our new and empty 2013 25FB International Serenity home from the Los Angles Airstream dealership to the Phoenix metro area with a 2007 Mercedes ML 320 CDI V6 turbo diesel with a custom stinger Hensley Arrow hitch. It did well on the climb out of Palm Springs, CA on I-10. After loading the trailer to nearly 6,900 pounds, the car was under more strain than I liked.

We acquired one of the last of the 2012 Ram 2500HD Cummins 4x4 and that worked well for the 25FB and transitioned to being the ideal tow vehicle for our 2014 31' Classic with a ProPride hitch that scales 9,200 pounds camping ready.

The Mercedes and the Hensley Arrow were repurposed later to towing our 2015 23D International Serenity and that seems to be a much better load at 6,068 pounds camping ready for the Mercedes.

Lexus LX570 on 33" AT tires, with Equilizer and 1k bars. Plenty of power for the asking. Solid stability.

Buttery ride with hydraulic AHC suspension, even with the significant load. No suspension droop to speak of as it auto levels all corners.

In the process of lifting the 27FB so we can explore more interesting places. After all, that is the intent of the LX570, Land Cruiser in disguise.

2014 Ram 1500 crew cab, short bed 4x4. Full tow package, 5.7 hemi. We're very happy with it, but if we had it to do over again, for increased load capacity we would have chosen a 3/4 ton tow vehicle. We're not diesel fans though, so we'd have looked for a gasser in that size.

RAM 2500 long bed Diesel. Tows like a dream and gets 13-15mpg while towing. Not so fun to use as a commuter vehicle as parking is tough for a 22ft truck. Equalizer hitch

GMC 2500 Denali HD four wheel drive with Duramax.

Airsafe hitch with Reese dual cam.

I liked the ride of the GM independent front suspension. It is comfortable to drive unloaded.

The Duramax/Allison provides ample power for any situation and is capable of carrying any extra gear without concern.

Parking and driving in urban areas are no problem.

Regards,

JD

2010 F250 Diesel. Pulls my Classic effortlessly. I would like to go to the F150 with Ecoboost but I have been dissuaded so far. ( not as much cargo capacity as I would like)

We have towed our FC25 (two ft shorter, 200 lbs less wt) all over the country with Ram 1500 Hemi and EcoDiesel, and a ProPride hitch. Can't emphasize enough the difference a quality hitch setup makes. All the load capacity we ever needed. Tows and drives like a dream, with and without the Airstream.

If a Ford or GM fan, I would suggest waiting for their smaller diesel versions, available soon. Really nice engine, many transmission speeds so its always operating at its best. The fuel economy is remarkable, 16-18 towing and 28-30 solo.
