Want a TV for 67 Caravel

hi everyone, it's been a long time since my last post. we are looking for a new tow vehicle for our '67 caravel 17' . would love some recommendations! from reading some of the threads, toyota tundra seems popular, but we are open to any suggestions. thanks!

Heck they are so light weight you could tow it with a VW Bug or just about any passenger car. If you want a big truck so be it, but certainly not necessary.

You might want to look at a 1/2 ton Ford F-150 pick-up. Plenty of space for extra stuff you'll want to tote! A plus is it has an aluminum body just like your trailer! Get one in a nice silver color! Ed

I'll second that. F-150 V6 ecoboost. If you can wait for the 2017 with the 10 speed transmission and dual fuel rail systems, I'd do that. Optional 36 gallon fuel tank is well worth it if you plan to tow quite a bit. Rides like a Cadillac. You won't even know your caravel is back there. A nice Blue Ox sway pro with some light bars will make it even better. Lots of bed space for gear and a genny.

I'm all for a Tundra, but I might consider a vintage tow vehicle- maybe a '67 Ford, GM, Dodge or International pickup?
Maybe a '67 Suburban or Travelall?
Maybe a full size Ford, Olds, or Chrysler wagon from the era?

thank you for the thoughts, I think the f 150 is abit more than we need, but I do appreciate the reliability aspect.

we gave up our 89 jeep grand wagoneer due to wear and tear, the vintage trucks are awesome but always need maintenance and part replacement. we couldn't trust the gw on a long trip, so I'm hesitant to go into vintage vehicles again, as much as I love the look

There's not another TV on the planet today that you can beg, borrow, steal, or buy, that is more reliable and trouble free than a Tundra.

Someone recently referenced a YouTube of a million mile Tundra. Not counting maintenance (tires, brakes, timing chains, and countless oil changes) the only repairs were a transmission at 770,000 miles, and replaced alternator and water pump. Amazing!

To be fair I searched for other million mile vehicles, and found a Silverado too! They didn't talk about repairs, but the owner did let slip that he was on his EIGHTH radiator!!

If you want a comfortable, smooth, V8 ride with a 5,000# towing rating I say get pre-2005 Crown Vic!

I don't think there is one best answer. Is it primarily used to tow or primarily used for something else. Are you looking new or used because budget to do the job can be anything. Is it going to make lots of miles a year or just be a secondary and TV.

If you are looking for a new light duty truck I say test drive the F-150 3.5 EB, Chevy 1500 6.2 8 speed, Ram 1500 Ecodiesel & or Hemi 8 speed, and the Tundra with 5.7. Get the tow package. Not a fan of the lesser motors but in your case with the light trailer even the smaller motors should be reliable. Often the smaller motor towing uses about as much fuel as their best motor. Unless price difference is stupid and turns your gut get the one you like the most.

We have towed our caravel with a BMW x5d for many miles and love it. The all wheel drive makes towing safer and the sophistication of the vehicle makes it a fantastic everyday vehicle. I would recommend looking at it closely.
