VW TDI Recall

Just wondering if the guys on the forum towing Airstreams with VW SUV Diesels will be included in this massive recall?

They are saying vehicles will need new programing, smaller injectors and new catalyst to fix. Horsepower, fuel mileage and performance will suffer.

I wouldn't be a happy camper (no pun intended) if I had one.

From what I have seen it only affects the smallest VW diesels which did not use the DEF urea fluid, not the larger Touareg SUV's.

It affects the four cylinder TDIs with or without SCR. Not the Touareg. Haven't seen what the impact on performance will be yet.

Let's wait until we have actual information... so far there's no announced fix.

No, the VW diesel SUV's (Touareg TDI) are not included.

It may be a good time to make a deal on one though, and I'm thinking seriously about it. Great tow vehicle for a mid-size Airstream. Like our 1/2 ton truck, managing our payload makes it work.

Are VW dealers allowed to sell any diesels right now?

Touareg TDI's are not involved and are for sale at VW dealerships.

Are Touregs TDIs B20 compatible? More and more stations are going to higher than B5. If they are only good to B5 I wouldn't bother.

Still, they did find a drop of 1.5 hp. If that turns out to be realistic, and given it still appears to be over the manufacturer's hp claim, doesn't sound like much of an issue.
