The news is that they've finally announced the price difference for the VM Motori diesel, $2850. They've been talking about the half-ton diesel for a while now.

In another thread that was the price difference from the V6 gas motor, not a realistic price comparison if you are looking for a TV. Less then half that price difference from the 5.7 Hemi.

Reread the Detoit News story....$2850 price is the upcharge from a hemi. The hemi is $1700 and change up charge fom the base V-6. In other words, the diesel is about a $4500 premium. The 2014 Grand Cherokee is showing the same diesel with a $4000 premium. Production delivery on the diesel GC was moved from last April until late in the third quarter of this year. Depending on what blogs you read, delay is blamed on EPA regs.

Sorry, I remembered it wrong (forgot it was that much) the other thread did say $4000 to go from the gas V6 to the diesel for the GC. When the upcharge was mentioned without saying what the upgrade was from I thought it was from the base engine like first posted on the other thread.

The issue with the 1500 (or an F-150) for most of us is still going to be max payload... ;(

The F150 with max payload option gets the payload number quite high.

Perhaps the Ram with that V6 engine will have such an option. It would be the smart thing for Dodge to do.

That's what put the hurt on International's 6.0 for Ford. They'd be wise to wait if it means doing some serious testing of whatever last minute changes they make to accomodate the EPA.

You can always trade it in on a Nissan 2015 with a Cummins turbo V-8 diesel scheduled for next year!

Seems that Nissan was going to share the Fiat diesl with Ram, but it never happened. Ram guy moved over to Nissan recently and the result is a turbo V-8 Cummins Diesel.
