Using truck convex mirror w/ stock mirrors

I like the tow mirrors on our F250, but when I adjust them for maximum view along side the Tin Pickle it's hard to see out to the side of the truck as much as I need for lane changes. I fixed this by adding some round convex mirrors I picked up at Napa Auto Parts. They're made to attach to West Coast style truck mirrors but by drilling a 3/8" hole in the stock aluminum mirror mount, I was able to use the supplied stainless L bracket and mount the new mirrors just underneath the stock ones. This gives me much better visibility and now the only blind spot is right behind our Airstream .

(very cool)

Nice mirrors barts. We don't have a blind spot directly behind us. Our AS doesn't have sunglasses and we keep the front and rear curtains open. I can look straight through using the rear view mirror.

Well, with a crew cab tinted rear window, camper shell front and rear windows, etc. the visibility is minimal, anyway. In addition, the rear window on the Airstream is high enough that any sedan can hide back there all day and I'd never see it. Having lost one wing window on the way home from buying our Airstream, I'm careful to use a cover - they're expensive and non-trivial to replace!

Thumbs up

The convex does take some getting used to, but are well worth it.
