two trailers to tvs what tows what

So my Gfs dad is restoring a 31 ft late 60's air stream and a mid 50s I would say 17 ft TT not sure of make. His plan is to have them pull the AS with their I beleive 07 navigator that had the tow package and me tow the other TT with my 08 tundra 5.7. It seems to me that my truck would be better suited for the larger trailer, speically considering their will be 5 people in the navigator plus gear for all of them, and just me and my gf in my tundra with some camping gear in the bed. Just looking some other opinions on the safest way to rig everything together.

Weigh the Navigator with 150lbs X five (750-lbs) distributed; plus representative weight for gear and full fuel (CAT Scale; search). Find the towing guide for this vehicle. Search this site for a representative trailer in terms of "wet" weight and tongue weight: Will this work for the Navi?

There is NO substitute for honest-to-God weight scale readings. It is the ONLY way to properly set up a WDH. (And, same goes for yours). You want "solo" weight readings, and the tow vehicles are easiest to do first.

To "help" the old guy, do a search on here about axle height. Inland RV/Andy has a handy guide for determining if A/S axles are worn out. I seriously doubt that the restorer will want someone else to pull his toy . . . .

The axles are shot and being replaced, he is doing a complete resto, everything is gone from the trailer at this point except the frame and shell.

My opinion.

Hi, these are his trailers and if he want to pick which one to tow with his Lincoln, it should be his choice. I'm sure that old trailer doesn't weigh too much for the Lincoln. [rated close to 9,000 lbs] Also maybe the Lincoln's air suspension might be an easier ride, for the Airstream, than the Toyota.
