I think you will find the max towing capacity of 1500s are well above the max gross weight of the trailer. When I bought a truck for my 25FB, the biggest worry I had was max weight capacity (GVWR) of the truck. Most 1500s were near capacity with a loaded trailer hitch weight plus 2 people and stuff in the truck bed. I opted for an extra 500# weight capacity (F150) with the max tow package. Maybe that's an option for GM.

From what I've seen amongst my friends is 2500s for 30' trailers, but a 1500 should be ok for a 27'. Just watch the truck GVWR.

For 2014 the 1500 increases payload to 2000 to a little over 2100 pounds, depending on cab configuration and content. A couple hundred pounds better than the GMT900. I MAY be just barely enough for me in a 6.2L max tow. I am going to have to scale a demo fully loaded.

Not really.

A while ago the manufacturers started trying to get away from that since it hasn't been true for all 150s, 1500s, 250s, 2500s ect... for decades.

It is still true for a few, by definition a 1/2 ton has a payload of 1300lbs, 300lbs for driver and passenger and 1000lbs (or 1/2 ton) for cargo. 150s and 1500s have payloads from 1300lbs to over 2000lbs.

By definition a 3/4 ton would have a payload of 1800lbs but most new 250s and 2500s have more then 3000lbs payload which would make them 1 1/2 ton trucks.

Ha, love this thread...due to it having all of the "stuff" that I wanted I ended up with a barely used 2009 Silverado Duramax/Allison 3500 HD long bed crew cab 4x4 ;-) Way more truck than I needed to pull a 30' AS, but trust me, there are NO problems when towing up, down, flat, whatever. Due to the overall rig length it can be a little challenging turning and parking at times... 14-15 mpg with or w/o the trailer.
