Tv Gmc Envoy
I have a 25' airstream tt (4900lbs dry) and am looking at a 2003 GMC Envoy with T-package and a 5.3L 4x4. The hitch says 5000lbs towing capacity and 7200 with weight distribution. Has anyone expierence or thoughts on this vehicle?
thanks,

Weight Capacities
2WD4WD Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), lbs§§5,5505,750 Curb weight, lbs4,4044,541 Payload, lbs¶1,1461,209¶Maximum payload capacity includes weight of driver, passengers, optional equipment, and cargo.§§When properly equipped; includes weight of vehicle, passengers, cargo, and equipment.
I am not an expert but doesn't look too good from here. I would also be very concerned about wheel base. With a total payload of only 1200 # that doesn't seem to give you much for tongue weight. Wait for others to chime in, but personally I wouldn't do it.

Nope...wouldn't do it with less than a 2500 or 250 p/u. Tail would wag the dog otherwise...hence the problem in picture above.

i had a '03 envoy with the tow package and the load leveling suspension. I had the XL so it's wheel base was a little longer than the regular one, not sure which one you're looking at. I never had that much weight on it. i hauled a jeep down to the deer lease through texas hill country one time with it and i don't think with trailer and jeep (old willis jeep) that it was near 5,000 and it wasn't a fun drive. slow speeds and didn't like stopping it, horrible gas mileage. I wasn't comfortable with it and regretted pulling it. i personally would not recommend it, but I am never comfortable pushing the limits on a TV.

The combo you propose would not fall into my comfort zone, but some are more daring than I.

I have a 19' Bambi and tow it successfully with a Trailblazer XL (long wheelbase - 130 inches) and the 5.3 V8. My truck is rated at 5600 max towing capacity due to the 3.42 rear gears. The Trailblazer is really the same vehicle as the Envoy (same plant, different interiors and badging).
The Bambi tows fine; but mileage isn't much (11.5 on a good day).
My Bambi's traveling weight is close to its GVWR, 4500, and that's about as heavy as I would tow with my truck (or any Trailblazer/Envoy). Even if the truck had higher rear gears (3.73 or 4.10) to increase the towing capacity, I'm not sure I'd want to tow a larger trailer. The payload doesn't increase with the higher rear end gears, just the GCWR.
IMHO, you're pushing the envelope, weight-wise, with the 25' trailer.
Hope this helps, Matt
