TV advice & 2014 Airstream photography road trip

Hello all,

This is my first post here. We just purchased an '87 31' Excella in good condition and will be towing for the first time in the next few weeks. We will be using a GMC 1500 for the initial town of about 400 miles where the AS will then be stationary for most of the summer. From October through March will we then be road tripping with the AS to weddings, national parks, parties and bascially anything worth seeing around the country as photographers. We plan to document the trip, meet other airstream folks along the way and photograph as much of the country as possible.

A few questions, from what I have read in the forums, it sounds like a full size (1500 or larger) truck is about as small of a TV as we would want to go to tow the 31' Excella. Is this accurate? If so, just looking for best advice on a used tow vehicle to look into purchasing.

Also, we would love to photography airstream meet ups, airstream history etc and just meet great people along the way. We're open to all ideas.

Thanks in advance and we're stoked to be AS owners.

According to the info I have, your Airstream (87 Excella side bath 31 ft.) weighs in at 5900 lbs with a hitch weight of 700. Check your truck's specs to make sure it can handle that load.

Oh, and welcome to AirForums!
