Tundra 4.6

I have a Tundra 4.6 double cab and towing a 2010 28' International. I have weighed it on the public scale and it came out to be 6360# for the truck and 6600# for the trailer loaded as we use it. Total is 12960#. GCVW for my model Tundra is 14,000#. I know its pretty close to the limit but it seems to tow and stop with not much struggle unless going up a long 6% grade.
What are your thoughts? Should I move up to the 5.7 engine,look at the Ford ecoboust or stay with what I have?

In my opinion that is a decision only you can make. If you are satisfied with the towing performance of the truck, then stay with it. I could tell you what I'm satisfied with, but that's really not relevant.

I love my 5.7 liter 2008 sequoia, but if your happy with what you have and it is working for you why spend the money?

I had a 1st gen 4.6L double cab Tundra and it pulled my 25' Tradewind no problem. I added a cold air intake for a little extra power. It worked well pulling through the Rockies. There is no need to upgrade.I loved that truck. Having said that, I do now have a 2008 5.7L TRD Offroad doublecab and I forget I am pulling sometimes! It does have lots of power on tap and the 6 speed Tranny does make a big difference. I would use it for now. If you feel you need more perfomance Then I would get the Next gen Tundra. I know a couple of people who have bought the Eco Boost Ford and wish they would have bought a Tundra.
