Toyota FJ Cruiser TV, thoughts / ideas?

Hello. I am new to the forum. I am currently looking for a 16' or 19' AS. I have read a lot about people upgrading to a 19' after starting with a 16'. My 2012 FJ has a 5000 towing capacity. I am interested if someone has an FJ, what size AS you are towing. Also, what hitch setup are you using and what mods have you done. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks and keep up the great posts.

We tow our 22' sport with our FJ. Took a few mods, but she pulls well.

Thanks for your posts. Can you tell me the mods you did. I have no choice at this point but to keep my FJ as a tow vehicle. I'll be upgrading in the few years. Thanks. Pete

We have a trail team 2010 model with a tow package already factory installed. We upgraded the rear springs, added the RV wire harness, sway bar, and brake controller. It pulls great and that's with our 33" off road tires. I actually weighed our rig fully loaded at some CAT scalez and we were still way under the 5000lb limit. With some mods, you'll be fine!

I pulled a 19 foot Bambi International CCD all over the country for a year with an FJ and had no problems at all. I wouldn't want to go any larger than that with an FJ, however. Used an Eaz-Lift hitch.

There was an article in Trailer Life magazine a while back where they were towing an Airstream with an FJ. May have been six or seven years ago. That may answer some questions if you can find the article.
