Not Much Gear Capacity

Hi Scotty,
OK, if we accept the 6400 lbs. as real, this might be possible. I did not say great. It seems to create an unusual situation where your gear should all be stowed in the trailer vs. the tow vehicle. You won't be able to fully load the trailer, but weight in there only transfers about 10% to the tow vehicle -- the limiting factor. Gear will be limited to about 170 lbs. My calcs and estimates are attached (They assume your stated capacities).

Hi Scotty,
I meant to ask in the prior post that you let me see the rig if you do put it together. I'm only 3.0 hours 8 minutes or 184.91 miles away (Sherwood / Reedsport) per MapQuest and we could meet somewhere between.

Hi Scotty, my TV is a Toyota tacoma, 4litre/6 cyl, until recently I was using the smaller 3.4 tacoma....my Airstream is a 25'/73 model which weighs in at 4000/dry with 800-1000 lbs more loaded...The vehicle is rated for 6500lbs towing, I'm using a reese dualcam and it is working well....

4 runner

The 4runner is one of my favorite vehicles. The Airstream is one of my favorite campers. But not together. You are overtaxing the runner with that trailer.
You can either keep the runner and buy a great little 17-19' (but comfortable) Casita or Bambi. Or you can get a 9 mpg truck to pull your AS.
Iffin it were me, and I've been thru most of it in my 63 years, I'd keep the runner and buy a smaller camper.

I have a 2004 4-runner, V8 that specs out at 7,000 lbs max. My Airstream is a 2007 Safari 27' SE, 4,300 lbs dry. I only drive short distances and on the flats not the mountains. It works fine for that. If I was going to pull a lot more I would be getting a bigger vehicle.

Kam;

Something doesn't make sense. My 25' Safari dry is 5200 lbs. At 27' you can't be lighter than a 25'.
