Toyota 4 Runner

I just have to ask a quick question about a Toyota 4 runner since I want to replace one of my present vehicles.
Who here tows with a 4 runner if any?
I do have a tow vehicle now but since I want a 4 runner I just wanted to know if it was a capable tow vehicle and for what size airstream.

Thanks George

We do...

but our trailer is not real big, only 16', and it's loaded gross weight is 3500 lbs. Our 2001 4Runner's towing capacity is 5000 lbs, so we're about at the limit with our little Bambi + the other goodies that come along. We're not the fastest up the steep mountains but we get there, and, knock wood, we've never had a problem. We use heavy duty brake pads, so braking is no sweat, especially if you're downshifting to help slow down the rig. We've got a transmission cooler too. So far so good. Regular maintenance is a must!

All that being said, I wouldn't consider towing anything bigger or heavier with the 4Runner. It's just not cut out for heavy duty towing.

Towing '11 23FB with a '04 4Runner Limited. V8 engine & tow package (comes with limited ed). 7300lbs tow rating. Using Husky centerline hitch (sway control & weight distribution), which I really like. The V8 power is amazing, I have to be careful not to hit the car in front of me when merging into the freeway :-) . The sway situation is not the best, but comfortable for me. I have P tires and will change to LT in a couple of weeks to get stiffer side-walls. I do inflate the current rear tires to the max, which helps a lot.
I wouldn't go any larger. The 25' trailers would be too close to the tow limit for my comfort, and I don't know how I'd mount mirrors to see past the trailer. I use the McKesh telescoped out to the max and the 25' is wider then the 23...

Had a 4 Runner (loved it), but after heavy cross winds and a very long trip home, white knuckles and all. We now have a big 09 Toyota Tundra. No more sway, plenty of room for all our gear. We are very happy with our setup now.

We have a 2008 V8 4WD limited 4Runner and tow our 1971 23' Safari with a ProPride 3P hitch. I wouldn't recommend using the 4Runner to tow through the mountains, but for our purposes it works fine. With the exception of our yearly trek out to Kansas in September, the majority of our towing with the 4Runner is within 200-300 miles from home. I don't drive fast when towing on the Intersate (60-65) and I'm pretty careful. No problems so far.

I have to admit that I have a serious desire for a Ford F250 with the 6.7 diesel engine...
