Rich. that 3.42 diff ratio is more toward fuel economy. As a van, it is OK. As a TV, you won't run in OD much...only downhill & I would not run in OD downhill with my trailer behind. So, NO OD when towing.
Also, 6875 is not much for towing with a 33' trailer. You need to get your numbers together & be sure it is reasonable. That goes for your Dodge, too.

My E250 has 3.73 & 7400 lb tow rating. My Excursion has 11,000 lb tow rating.

If there is an owners manual, read it regarding towing. My half ton Chevy van said no OD when towing. On my GMC it says okay. Primarily due to that model tranny being a heavy duty unit. It is possible that with a diesel you might have a different tranny than if you were gas powered. Rear axle ratio does affect towing capacity. If I had taken the standard axle with my 6 liter gas engine on my current van, I would have lost about 1,500 lbs. in towing capacity. Gas mileage is only one of the components affected by axle ratio.

Thanks. I routinely pull a way-overbuilt gooseneck loaded with 200 cut christmas trees, so I know my truck will be fine ...just not near as comfortable as the van. It's tagged for 25,000. I'm sure pulling something that big on the bumper is going to be a whole new experience.

I have a 1973 33' Streamline. I don't have a weight on it (pointless to weigh, because it's gutted), but I do know that these vintage trailers weighed less per foot than the newer trailers. (Streamlines were also extra light, with aluminum interior parts.)
