Towing Question

I need to know if a 2006 Jeep Commander V8 with a towing limit of 6500 lbs can pull an Argosy 30' with a dry weight of 4380 lbs and max of 6400 lbs? Will this be to close to the towing limits? I have pulled a lot of trailers of varying sizes and lengths while in the army but for the first time I have to look at the load limits and handling capabilities for myself.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

_______

now that u've joined us and learned how to post,

take a bit of time and look over the 1000s of questions about "rig combinations"

and the myriad of answers related to those combos.

then either try it or not.

OR post more details (travel frequency/distance/destination/rigging/financials) and so on...

my answers would still be as above but the extra info might help others reply.

cheers

The answer to your question, somewhat depends on other things.

Such as, what is the rear end ratio?

Will you install a transmission oil cooler?

Both of those make a huge difference of what you can and cannot do, with any vehicle that will be considered for a tow vehicle.

Like 2airishhuman said "possible Yes" You would need a really good equalizing hitch and sway control and some exceptional brakes. It would take a lot to set it up but it is doable. Now would most of us here do it. NOPE. Iv'e seen a few older Grand Cherokees on their sides because the trail was to long, But they were SOB's not AS.

IF possible I would look into something a little bigger.
